An ongoing description of one man's attempt to make sense of our existence drawing from the competing theories of materialism and spiritualism as derived from Western thought and from Muhammad's revelation

Sheikh Nazim al-Qubbrusi used to call His Mosque: The Mental House. On The Island of Aphrodite i.e. Cyprus, he titled me the sheikh of the mental house, as I had then started to suffer from paranoid schizophrenia and was on my way back from the hajj al-akbar 1991. Much of his teaching concerned The Second Coming. He reckoned that in the spiritual realm Jesus would speak to him and say He was ready to return to earth. What does this mean. I reckon that Christ could make a return as a muslim as well as being recognisable to christians and that this could, at least in theory be a format for a recognisable and useful 2nd coming, bearing in mind the trauma existing between the muslim psyche and the christian. Have just written an essay for The Open University dealing with why Islam has prospered in the muslim world whereas Christianity appears to have faltered in western europe. I am interested in bloggers thoughts on these issues and whether eschatology has any relevance to the modern world.
